One of the 7 natural wonders in Costa Rica

Declared one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Costa Rica, Monteverde is one of the most impressive, popular and naturally rich destinations in the country. It was also named one of the “14 Places to remember before they disappear” according to Newsweek magazine.

Its well-deserved international reputation as a jewel of the cloud forest is not due to its overwhelming landscapes or its possibilities of adventure everywhere, but to its natural wealth: it owns 2.5% of the world’s biodiversity; including even half of the flora and fauna of Costa Rica, as well as one third of the orchid species in the country.

In 2007, Costa Ricans voted to choose the Seven Natural Wonders of Costa Rica. The final list gathers a wide range of Costa Rica’s geographic diversity: remote islands, mountains and volcanoes; virgin cloud forests, navigable channels among the jungles, and a river so light blue that your friends will believe that the photographs you take are fake. These seven treasures lay on all the territory, which means that no matter where the travelers go, they will find a wonder anywhere. In addition to its physical attributes, each destination offers an exclusive experience to enjoy Costa Rica with its locally owned hotels and restaurants. There are no in any of these places, only the essence of the ecological wealth of Costa Rica and its warm hospitality.
One of these 7 wonders is: Monteverde.

Monteverde is a small community in Puntarenas, and hosts many reserves, including the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Its main attraction is the beauty of its flora and fauna. However, there are many activities that you can do, depending on your preferences and interests. Most of the attractions have been established recently, in the last 5 years, always keeping in mind the preservation and protection of the reserves.
Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve is an 11-hectare area that protects more than 3,000 species of birds, butterflies, mammals and plants. Its foliage is absolutely amazing, since it is dense and full of life. Its wildlife is also surprising, as it includes everything from thousands of insects, birds, tapirs, quetzals and even jaguars.
